When you visit the dentist, especially if it is a much longer visit than normal, your mouth will also be open for a considerable time at a wide angle.  Your mouth doesn’t normally do this, it is not designed to. So if you have a lot of tension in your neck, jaw and head, an extended appointment could send your jaw into overdrive.   If this happens, you may feel a tightening of the jaw immediately, with headache to migraine pain within days.  If you are already clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth while asleep, it will be exacerbated.

The best thing to do is get an adjustment after every visit to your dentist especially if you are highly sensitive.  This will ensure that your dental treatment is successful, and leaving you feeling good and balanced.  Your chiropractor will make sure that your jaw is brought back into alignment.  A remedial or myotherapy massage session will also assist in relaxing the muscles around the jaw, mouth, neck and head.
